This weekend God taught us that even the littlest ones in His Kingdom are not without purpose in His grand scheme of things. We were also reminded that we are to do whatever we can for the kingdom, whether it’s a big job or small job, because it’s all important to God!
Sunday morning we were honored to once again lead worship at Munford Baptist Church in Munford, TN. At the conclusion the morning service, we set about our normal routine of “tearing down” the equipment and product table so we could head out for lunch and then home. Shawn went and changed his clothes, cranked the bus so the air bags could fill up and then came back in to start the loading process. A few minutes later Tim went to change and strangely found the bus door was locked! The odd thing was no one was on the bus to have locked it. After several minutes of investigating the situation, Tim realized the air lock on the door had malfunctioned and locked itself! We then realized we had NO WAY of getting on the bus! The windows weren’t an option since all of them were locked from the inside, so we scratched our heads and I whispered a desperate prayer! Without breaking a window, the only possible way into the bus was through the small 12″ x 12″ garbage chute located in the bay beneath the bus. We all looked at each other and snickered, and then Kaela suggested sending one of the twins through the garbage chute! It was a silly idea but it was our only hope! So after some slight persuasion, we finally convinced Ansleigh and Bryleigh to climb up through the small hole. Check out the photos here! Once inside the bus, they were able to open the driver’s window so Tim could reach in and disengage the lock. We were all extremely relieved and thankful to finally get on the bus and Ansleigh and Bryleigh were super excited to have saved the day!
Needless to say, the girls are having an extremely fun time telling everyone how “God made them just the right size on that day to make them fit through the garbage chute”! It’s definitely another memory we will add to our collection of “road stories” but even in the silliness of it all, God has challenged me! I’m reminded of the verse in 1 Timothy 4:12, “Let no one look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in your speech, conduct, love, faithfulness, and purity.” The job they were called to perform Sunday wasn’t glamorous but it was necessary and we were all thankful that they were able and willing to answer “the call” to do what they could for us and for God. So I want to challenge you! No matter your age and no matter your calling, whether it’s taking out the trash or crawling up a garbage chute, be an example to other believers in the way you conduct yourself and do what you do for the glory of God!
Thanks again for your love, support and friendship! We love and treasure you all!
Because of Him,
Bridget
PS… You can hear the girls’ singing debut on the “Before The Rain” CD as they provide the reprise on “As For Me And My House”!
