First of all, thanks for your overwhelming response to our question, “What is your favorite hymn?” I didn’t realize that we would get so many responses! Obviously we’re not the only ones that still love the hymns of the church! We did manage to narrow the list down to ten songs. I know that we couldn’t do everyone’s favorite… but we’re very excited about the final list. We will be moving toward completing the project really soon, so we went to Nashville yesterday to record the tracks. A special thanks to Matthew Holt for helping with the arrangements and playing piano during the recording session! You’re awesome! Also, thanks to Jeremy Medkiff (guitar), Roger Fortner (bass) and Garth Justice (drums) for your amazing talents!
I’m sure that many of you will be wondering what songs we chose… so here’s the final list:
It Is Well With My Soul
The Haven Of Rest
Blessed Assurance
Before The Throne Of God Above
I Feel Like Traveling On
O, I Want To See Him
My Jesus I Love Thee
When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder
Pass Me Not O Gentle Savior
I Love To Tell The Story
What do you think about the final list? Did one of your favorites make the cut?
The final list looks great!
Can’t wait to hear it!
You definetly got one of my all time favorites. They are all great songs and I will be excited to hear you guys sing them.
Although my favorite did not make the cut, I believe those on the final list represents an execellent cross-section of our christian walk and what being a christian means to all of us. Great job. Looking forward to the finished product.
The list looks great! I can’t wait to get the CD!
My favorite made the cut! “It is Well…”
Oh, and I’m thrilled to see you’ll be cutting “Before the Throne of God Above.” Will you be cutting the new version (PDI / Sovereign Grace / new melody)? If so, I hope you single it …
I don’t think that I’ve heard that version… But would love to!
We’re doing an arrangement of the song that we heard several years ago.
Any chance that you can make it a double disc with the dvd of you all recording the songs or maybe a live version of you all doing those songs in concert.

The list is great. It Is Well With My Soul is one of my favorites plus When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder was my precious grandmother’s favorite. It always brings back many wonderful memories of her. Can’t wait to buy the CD!
Unfortunately, none of my hymns made the cutg, but it was an almost impossible job! However, I do love the hymns you have chosen and look forward to the finished product.
Who said you had to stop @ 10 songs? After all, we could listen to you sing all day!
What a fabulous list! This is going to be one super-hot CD. My two songs made the cut and there is one song that I’ll get to learn. Good luck on the project. May God richly bless each of you and your families during this holy season.
Looks great, put me down for one. Love hymns!
Thanks Tom. Look forward to getting back to Franklin!
Your selections are excellent. Wasn’t it wonderful to have so many great old hyms to choose from?
Happy to know you chose “It Is Well With My Soul” as one of them! Anxious to hear the CD.
God bless and Merry Christmas from The Poes.
Cool, glad to see “When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder” made the list. I’ve rarely seen this recorded but this song brings me back to some of my earliest memories of church. Which, being 23, are not that far behind me. :p
