Another answered prayer

It has definitely been an interesting and busy couple of weeks. As you can see from the photo below Shawn and I have spent a lot of time working on the bus… well, actually repairing the radiator. I told someone the other day that Step 2 of repair was completed and they asked, “How many steps are involved?” I replied, “Step 1: Take off the old radiator. Step 2: Put on the new one. Step 3: Pray that it all works!” After our trip to Mississippi and Alabama last weekend, I can now say that Step 3 was also a success! Thank you, God, for another answered prayer!

This Sunday morning we will be in concert at our home church, Hillcrest Baptist Church! We’re really excited since this is one of the very few times each year that we are able to attend our church on a Sunday! If you’re in the Jackson, TN area, we would love for you to come worship with us this Sunday morning!

We have also added a new and really neat feature to the right sidebar of our webpage! We will be adding pictures to the site right from our cell phones… at anytime! So you never know when or what’s going to be added! Check back often to see the latest pics!

Mechanical Musings

Do you ever spend a lot of time working on things, but never feel like you get anything done? That has been my week so far! On our last several trips we’ve noticed that the bus engine has been running hotter than normal and we’ve come to the conclusion that the radiator needs to be replaced. We have also had a few problems with the starter on the bus and knew that we would have to replace it in the near future. So I’ve spent the last couple of days trying to research the most “price conscience” (cheapest) way to resolve these problems.

The cost for a new complete radiator assembly from Prevost is approx. $3,500 but you can purchase just the core for $2,000. That would seem like the best option… but after some research I found out that we could get a core built for only $1,300! So that has been ordered and will hopefully arrive on Monday of next week. I also ordered a new starter for $350 that will arrive tomorrow and be ready to put on next week. Just part of the joy (and responsibility) of owning a bus! So, if you’re in the Jackson area and would like to get a little greasy next week… come on out!

Tim Gets His Hair Cut!

It seems like this is the most excitement that we’ve had around here lately. Tim thought that he needed a new look. This is the shortest that it has been in nearly 5 years! What do you think? Do you like the before…or after? Let us know! I know that he’ll be glad to hear from you.

Thursday, July 30

We had an interesting time on the road last weekend! Last Friday night we got to worship with our friends at Crossroads Worship Center in Braggadocio, MO. We shared the stage with the groups, Gloryland and New Ground! We made some new friends and had a wonderful night of worship! Saturday night we sang at Providence Baptist Church in Lafe, AR. Since the church was preparing for VBS at the church, they had it decorated with all kinds of wild animals! It was the first time that we had ever shared the stage with bears, a bobcat and a skunk! Also during the service a gentleman, Mr. Ray Coln, had to be carried out because he had a seizure. Ray’s family said he just got filled with emotion during the song I was singing, “Leaving on My Mind”, and that seemed to have led to the seizure. (He has them often when anxious or excited.) Ray is doing better, so we praise God for that! Sunday morning, we witnessed another young lady accept Christ in Piggott, AR… Hallelujah! Then after lunch on Sunday we noticed there was a large bolt in a back tire on the bus that resulted in a flat! We found an Auto Zone and attempted to plug the tire… but it didn’t work. However, while at the Auto Zone, Bridget and LeeAnn had the opportunity to witness to a young man that worked there. As we left, he thanked us for being the confirmation he’d been praying for… Just goes to prove that God has plans even in bad situations! After the service Sunday night in Jonesboro, AR we prayerfully drove nearly 200 miles with the tag axle raised up to make it back to the house. We are still praising God for a safe, uneventful trip home! Ain’t God good?!?!

What’s God doing in your life?

It amazes me that people can believe there is no God or that God is dead. He has definitely been at work all around us! On Sunday night we witnessed a young lady come to the altar and surrender her life to Jesus Christ. That always gives us the encouragement we need to keep on keeping on!

Please take a moment to share with our community what amazing things the Lord has been doing in your life! You never know…it just might be the encouragement that someone else needs to hear!

Wednesday, July 15th

Well… the electricity has been out here for nearly 3 hours because of some severe storms in the area. I hope that I get finished with this before the battery dies on my laptop. We rolled in on Monday morning around 3 AM from the weekend. On Friday night we were a part of the Southern Gospel Jubilee in Buena Vista, VA along with our friends Soul’d Out Quartet. With an attendance of over 600…it was a great night! We spent the entire day on Saturday eating, shopping, and eating some more! On Sunday morning we had the honor to worship with the folks at Fairview Christian Community Church in Princeton, WV. We knew that these folks really loved gospel music when we realized the Talley Trio would be in concert at the same church that night! (I hope you had as much fun as we did Roger!) We had to really hurry to make it to Morristown, TN for the evening service at Grace Baptist Church. We had a great time and after the service we had to wrap up the trip with some friends at Shoney’s! You can’t go wrong with the breakfast buffet! Lots of pictures, so check out the photos page.

Bridget has been getting ready for Bunco at our house on Thursday night. The house will be covered up with a whole bunch of loud women. They all sit around and eat, roll dice, and hollar “BUNCO”! I guess I’ll have to find something to do that will get me out of the house. Any ideas? Maybe I’ll take A & B out for a night on the town!

We will be leaving on Friday headed to Indiana for the weekend. Really excited about our first trip to Southwood Baptist Church in Beech Grove and can’t wait to see all of our friends at E. 16th St. Church of God in Muncie and Faith Baptist in Marion. Check out the schedule for details.

Thursday, July 9th

What did you do on the Fourth of July this year? Did you do anything special? We’d love to hear about it!

We spent the entire weekend on the road and had a great time. On Friday night we were in East Prairie, MO for their annual Sweet Corn Festival. The city closes down the streets for a street dance and celebration at 9 pm…but at 6 pm Elm Street Baptist Church provides FREE hamburgers, hotdogs, sweet corn, chips and drinks to anyone that comes out. This year they gave away over 700 hamburgers and hotdogs! We provided the music and entertainment for a few hours and then the church provided an awesome firework’s show afterwards. And yes…we all loaded up and left before the dancing started!

On Saturday we stopped by Bill & Cindy Keinbusch’s house for lunch and enjoyed some great fellowship before headed to McCrory, AR. We stopped and ate dinner at the Sonic when we arrived in McCrory. (It was the only place open!) While we were outside eating some folks decided to start the fireworks early and in the process caught the field on fire across the street. It brought back memories of living in a small town when the crowd started to gather to see what was happening. The McCrory Church of the Nazarene had another amazing firework’s display on Saturday night and also some pretty mean mosquitos! We worshipped with them on Sunday morning and had a great time. We also saw some family and friends that we’ve not seen a very long time. Our weekend wrapped up at Macon Road Baptist Church in Memphis on Sunday night. These folks are just like family and enjoying worshipping with them.

Don’t forget to check out the new photos that have been posted on the PHOTOS page. We have also changed that to allow you to post comments. The last thing that I would like to mention is the addition of a PRAYERS page on the site. We would love for each of you to post your prayer requests and testimonies on this page. We know that prayer changes things and we would love to pray and rejoice with you and those prayers are answered!

We sent out a survey several months ago and asked for suggestions to improve our newsletter. As a result we have made extensive changes to the way the newsletter will be created, maintained and distributed. Many of you asked for testimonies and more personal information about what was happening in our family. You also wanted us to share stories about people we have met, places we have been and include even more pictures and videos. We concluded that this would be handled better by making the newsletter a part of our website…and allow YOU to post comments. This will give everyone a more open forum to share with each other! You will receive an email notification when a new post has been added to the site. Then you should click on the READ MORE link to read the rest of the newsletter and take part in the discussion.

This past Sunday we led the morning worship service at Munford Baptist Church…which is LeeAnn & Shawn’s old church home. We always have a great time worshipping with them and this past Sunday was no exception. An invitation was offered in the middle of the service and many came to the altar to spend time in prayer. We’re not sure what decisions were made…but we know that the Lord was at work! We did post a few pictures, so click here to check them out.

We’ve had several request to add more video of Ansleigh and Bryleigh. It does not seem like it…but as of yesterday, they are 13 months old! …Time does really pass by quickly. Below is a short video from their First Birthday party! Hope you enjoy.

Wednesday, June 24th

Hey Everybody,
Well…things have been really hopping around here lately. Last week we had the priveledge to meet a lot of new friends in Marion, IN. We were part of a 4 day tent revival hosted by Faith Baptist Church. It was an awesome experience and we really saw God working in the lives of those that attended. Shawn and I also got to play golf 3 times during that trip…which equals what I had played ALL last year!!! Thanks to everyone that made it a wonderful week!

Bridget and I celebrated our 12th Anniversary on June 19th… and today (June 24th) is 16 years for Shawn and LeeAnn! Kaela has been really busy with softball and tomorrow is her first All-Star game! We have posted new pictures from the last week…click here to check them out.

Also, we are trying something new with the updates…so please take a moment to post a comment or question and see what kind of discussion we can get started. We will be right in the middle of the conversation!!!
